I had the same problem as others but I thought 20 minutes of ocean sounds for 99 cents was still a good deal. I thought I could burn the cd and just hit repeat. Unfortunately the ocean sounds stop after 20 minutes and you are left with 80 minutes of dead air before the cd ends and starts over.

Sound is nice but mine only plays for about 20 minutes also. That’s all that I needed it to play for; but I still feel gypped and misled.

Like others, I found that this track plays for 20:08, not the advertised “78 minutes.” The quality of the recording is good; it features only the sound of waves without new age background music, electronic bird screeches, or fog horn noise.

Very nice mellow sounds. Helped baby block out the noise from the next room and helped me sleep next to a loud “grunter” of a baby.

The sounds really make a difference with me, I sleep better, with fewer times waking up……….Worth the money!

I was hoping that this CD would contain the sounds of soft ocean waves that would lull me to sleep. Instead, the waves are of the crashing-surf variety, and not really that sleep inducing. I suffer from insomnia and was advised that the sound of waves is a good way to ease you off to sleep, so was hoping this CD would deliver that. You have to keep the CD at a very low volume or you will feel you are in the middle of a communal toilet facility with all the whoooshing sounds going on. I wouldn’t have bought this item if I knew had this sort of sound on it. Still, I have been sleeping OK, so maybe it has a hidden rythymn in it that has initially been lost on me.

It is hard to find nature sounds without music in the background. this is strictly ocean waves, just what i was looking for.

This is a beautiful and calming blend of rain, ocean waves and distant thunder. I turn it on in my office (next to my bedroom) to block out the noise from the streets of lower Manhattan. It works beautifully! And such a lovely blend of sounds. Highly recommended. And cheap!

My favorite Rogue Wave album is their first, the organic, acoustic guitar driven, and somehow psychedelic “Out of the Shadow.” “Permalight” is the furthest thing from that, but a logical progression through their discography. It is very “Poppy” with much more blissful melodies and electronic infusions. In fact, 3 or 4 songs on this album use a drum machine in the band’s effort to make nearly danceable rock music.
I must admit that I prefer the organic sound of their first album, but “Permalight” is probably their best album since for many of the same reasons. It still presses all of the same emotional buttons for me, and the studio ear candy abounds. So many little pieces seamlessly come together to make each track, that the album is fresh and even improves with a half dozen listens.
One of my friends, a true indie rocker, can’t get over the electronic and poppy sound. I can appreciate that, but this album has all the chops and quality of Rogue Wave at their best. If you’re a fan or an interested newcomer who can deal with a shiny-sweet tune, give this one a listen.
